Description / Abstract:
These requirements apply to power operated dispensing devices,
rated 600 V or less, for use with Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). These
requirements may be used to evaluate individual components of a
dispensing device as indicated in 1.3 for use with DEF.
Dispensing devices covered by these requirements are intended
for use with DEF defined as a liquid with 67.5 percent deionized
water and 32.5 percent urea.
In addition to the overall dispensing device, and in accordance
with 1.1, these requirements shall apply to devices that are used
to construct a dispensing device, including the following:
a) Pumps;
b) Meters;
c) Strainers;
d) Electrically operated valves (for use with flammable
liquids);
e) Hose nozzle valves;
f) Mechanically operated valves;
g) Hose assemblies;
h) Breakaway couplings;
i) Swivel connectors,
j) Pressure relief devices (for use with flammable
liquids);
k) Mechanical line leak detectors;
l) Casting impregnation materials; and
m) Gaskets and seals.
Dispensing devices shall be installed and used in accordance
with the applicable requirements in the Code for Motor Fuel
Dispensing Facilities and Repair Garages, ANSI/NFPA 30A and the
National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.
These requirements apply to wiring methods used to install or
interconnect such control equipment when the equipment is located
directly on or within the housing of the dispensing device.
These requirements do not apply to control equipment that may
authorize, monitor, or interrupt operation of a power-operated
dispensing device, nor other auxiliary equipment. These products
would be covered under the Standard for Control Equipment for Use
With Flammable Liquid Dispensing Devices, UL 1238.
These requirements do not cover dispensing devices for use with
any fluid other than as described in 1.2.
