Description / Abstract:
This Practice details the requirements for installing circuits
for power and control to AC squirrel cage induction motors (600
Volts and below) located in Class I, Division 2 areas; in Class II,
Division 2 areas; and in unclassified areas. This Practice
describes the basic assumptions used in developing these details
and provides guidelines for their use.
Motor installation details are arranged in three major groups as
follows:
a. Above grade circuits in conduit
b. Above grade circuits in Type MC, Type TC, or Type TC-ER
cable
c. Below grade circuits in conduit
Each major group of details contains details as follows:
a. Combined power and control wiring in a common raceway
b. Separate raceways for power wiring and for control wiring
c. Power circuits only
d. Control circuits only
Installation details for the following areas are excluded from
the scope of this Practice:
a. Installation in Class I, Division 2, Group A areas
b. Metal-clad cable installation in Class II, Division 2, Group
E areas
Purpose
This Practice provides installation details for power and
control circuits to AC squirrel cage induction motors (600 Volts
and below) located in Class I, Division 2 areas; in Class II,
Division 2 areas; and in unclassified areas.
