PDHs: 2.00
PTCs provide uniform rules for planning, preparing, executing,
and reporting of performance tests of mechanical equipment,
primarily energy-conversion equipment. PTC 46 has been applied as
the basis of ongoing plant performance engineering activities in
plants, worldwide. Power plants, which produce secondary energy
outputs, e.g., cogeneration facilities, are included within the
scope of this Code. This Code provides explicit methods and
procedures for combined cycle power plants and for most gas,
liquid, and solid fueled Rankine cycle plants.
You will learn to
- Describe the importance of conducting an overall plant
performance tests, primarily, in a power producing plant
- Explain the philosophy of performance test codes and how they
are to be used in testing equipment
- Explain the purpose of conducting an overall plant performance
test
- Identify and distinguish different types of performance
tests
- Identify what aspects of the test must be agreed upon by all
involved parties
- Explain how PTC 46 Code is organized and identify the general
contents of each section
Outline
Module One - Philosophy and Importance of Performance Test
Codes
Module Two - Purpose of Conducting an Overall Plant Performance
Test
Module Three - Agreements
Module Four - Organization of the Code Document
