Description / Abstract: This standard describes appearance (nonfunctional) imperfections of optical elements and assemblies and provides methods of testing and specifying them. It applies to long-, round-, edge-, and area-type appearance imperfections on the surface of or within optical elements, and within optical assemblies such as photographic objectives. This standard provides methods for specifying imperfections. The maximum size, frequency, and intensity of imperfections allowed must be specified by the manufacturer or the user of optics, or both, with particular attention given to their possible functional (image quality)
