Description / Abstract:
This standard defines the characteristics of front and focal-plane
shutters which affect the control of exposure and motion-stopping
ability of the shutter and the camera in which it is mounted.
Tests suited for two general purposes are described; for basic analysis and evaluation, and for routine testing and quality surveillance, based on graphic and digital readout respectively.
Methods and intent are stressed rather than equipment, because of the variety of good equipment commercially available, and because of the great number of acceptable variations in the details of the test setups. Requirements and precautions are spelled out in sufficient detail to assure accurate and repeatable testing.
